Our Adult & Teen Challenge Northern New England Women’s Home, Southern New England Women’s Home, and New Jersey Women’s Home programs offer Garden Vocational Training for both residents and apprentices. The following is taught on property:

• Preparing soil
• Choosing fertilizer
• Preventing weed trouble
• Organic gardening
• Container gardening for limited spaces
• Basic plant knowledge, hardiness, and planting zones
• Fruit production
• Correcting soil
• Propagation and transplanting seedlings
• Repelling pests and attracting butterflies and hummingbirds
• Therapeutic application of self-acceptance and accomplishment
• Following directions
• Seasonal goals 
• Use of gardening tools.

Upon completion residents and apprentices will have the knowledge of one of the world’s most enjoyable and necessary skills.
